When you get bored of sipping

4 on July 3, 2019

The liquid diet gets boring quickly, doesn’t it? It’s quite demotivating to only sip things and not being able to enjoy food like usual. I know there’s a time for everything, so I’m trying hard to stay on track! The decreasing numbers are quite energizing, though.

How do you keep yourself motivated for the liquid diet?

Hello everyone. I’m new here.

The liquid diet was not hard for me because I conditioned myself to have this diet even before I had the procedure done. I had the sleeve surgery a year ago. The hardest part for me was the pre-op diet because I had to radically change my diet during that time.

I also had the liquid diet for pre-op preparations; I think that’s exactly why I was so bored of it as I had it for so long. Such a challenging journey!

I’m just glad I’m cleared for soft, mushy food now. I worked hard to direct my attention somewhere else so I wouldn’t feel too bored. For those of you who are still struggling with the liquid diet, hang in there!

Hey @Jean, welcome to the group!  Congratulations on making it a year out.  I haven’t started the all liquid diet yet, but I’ve stopped eating sugary treats in preparation.

@Misty62 congrats on making it to the other side!  I bet the mushy stuff tastes so yummy after dealing with an all liquid diet for so long.

Misty62, I’m glad to hear you’ve made it through and I wish I’d noticed your question while you were still struggling.  It isn’t easy at all and I found it psychologically difficult the whole time I was on the liquid diet.  I pretty much got through by just reminding myself that I could eat (sip) again in a little while.  But yeah, it was tough!
