I just found out that my insurance will cover a portion of my weight-loss surgery, but the amount I’d personally be on the hook for is way to steep.  I simply can’t afford it!   I guess I’m underinsured.  Instead of giving up, I’m looking at medical tourism options to have the surgery in Mexico.  Do you guys have any recommendations for reputable clinics and tour groups?

I also have this problem, and I am still saving money for the surgery. I’m thinking about the money that I will save if I go to Mexico. However, the security is weightier on my mind that deters me from going there.

There are some clinics that are just right across the border with at least some staff who speak English. That makes me feel better.  I understand your fears though!

My sister is considering having surgery in Mexico and she’s interested in Obesity Not 4 Me in Tijuana.  They have excellent rates and are open on Saturdays which was important to her.  The clinic’s Yelp reviews look pretty good.  She hasn’t decided on this one just yet.  She’s still checking things out.  Give them a look if you have time and let me know if you see any big red flags on their website or you’ve heard anything bad about them.  I love my sister and want her to be safe.

I’m looking into them as well.  I’ve found good things about them online.  No huge red flags other than most everyone appears to be satisfied.  Most clinics will have a negative review or three, so it worries me that this clinic might have gone on the defensive and buried bad reviews.  Who knows really.
