Did you have to see a professional related to mental health around the surgery? Or do you still go see one even long after it? A friend I know got this recommendation from his surgeon, and he’s worried about all the stigma.

Some weight-loss clinics and insurance companies actually require it before they’ll approve surgery because it’s a big lifestyle change.  I think seeking mental health support is becoming more accepted and even encouraged these days.

I’m a guy and I think it’s tougher for us guys to admit it when we need help.  Maybe he feels like there’ll be a stigma attached to it because thinks it’s not something that men should do.  Sometimes these things are deeply ingrained.
