I’m thinking about getting a food processor. I see that a lot of healthy recipes call for one. What is the most useful cooking gadget or appliance you’ve found post-surgery?

A food processor is almost a must-have, mostly because it is versatile and can handle various heavy tasks in the kitchen. It is the single-most cooking item that I have found useful in preparing nutritious meals and reducing the time spent in the kitchen.

They’re just so darn expensive! Would you mind sharing what brand you have? I’m saving up to buy one and reviews are all over the place. I can’t tell which one would work best.

I’m a fan of Italian cuisine but pasta isn’t great since it’s loaded with carbs. So, I get a ton of use out of my spiralizer which allows me to make “pasta” out of zucchini (zoodles).

I’ve been wondering about one of those. How is the zucchini compared to pasta? I love pasta, but I know I won’t be able to eat much of it at all post-surgery.

I would like to know too. I love zucchini and I love pasta. I want to try using a spiralizer to make zoodles. How do they taste? Do you have kids? If so, did the like them?

I haven’t had surgery yet, but I’m working towards losing 20% of my body weight so that I can have the procedure.  I’ve found that a good kitchen scale and vegetable steamer go a long way towards helping me reach that goal.

I love to cook so I have tons of fancy gadgets that were usually given as gifts.  I don’t use my food processor that often now because it’s a pain to clean, but I used it a ton to purée my food when I hit that part of the diet after surgery.  One thing that I’ve continued to use are those portion control rings since I’m not good at eyeballing portions.  I have to say that those have been the most useful.

I’ve been using my kitchen scale to help me measure portions. I just looked up the portion control rings, and it looks like they would be faster and easier to use. I’m going to go order some. Thank you for sharing!

I got a Magic Bullet and really love it! It chops, blends, and mixes. It makes meal preparation easy being able to do all of these things with one appliance. It was especially handy in the liquid diet phase because I could make smoothies easily.

I think I’ll look into one of those, too. It is always really nice when you can save counter space by having one appliance instead of two or three. Counter space is always such a limited resource.

I use my Magiic Bullet every morning. I make a shake and my husband and I split it. One is too much for me, I feel full fast and sick to my stomach. A Magic Bullet is a great tool.

I have an awesome veggie steamer that I’ve been using a lot lately. I could never steam them correctly in the microwave. Broccoli, especially, would turn out soggy and limp.
