Let’s hear your update for December

It’s been about two months since the last check-in thread.   We’ve made it through Halloween and Thanksgiving since then, so I figured it’s a good time to take stock of where we are before the Christmas feasts set in.  I’d love to hear when you had surgery, how much you’ve lost, how your exercise routine is going, and how you feel.   Let’s cheer one another on.

I was sleeved during the first week of September.  I’ve lost 30-pounds since then, but I’ve kinda stalled at the moment.  Although I still don’t love exercising, I admit that I have fun once I get there.  I take Zumba classes at the YMCA three times a week a and I go walking twice a week.  I take the weekends off

It sounds like you’re doing great, LAT!  Keep it up my friend!

It’s been about nine months since I had the gastric sleeve procedure.  I’m frustrated that I haven’t hit my goal weight yet and my weight loss in general is slowing down.  The pounds fly off in the beginning, which is highly motivating, but now it’s more of a slog.  I’m determined to stick with it though.  I haven’t gained any of the weight back and I’ve had a few medical wins since my surgery date so I’m focusing on that. I go to the gym six days a week.  Two days are for lifting weights and the other four are for cardio.

Way to go you guys!  I dig these positive discussions as they keep me pumped up.  I’ve been very obese for five years now and you guys give me hope that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thirty pounds is a great start! There will be times where you plateau. Just keep doing what you’re doing, and eventually, you will start to lose more weight. Are Zumba classes fun? They look fun, and I’m thinking about checking one out at my local gym.

I decided to postpone my surgery until the New Year, but I haven’t been feasting like i usually do around the holidays. I’ve been exercising some and have lost a bit of weight. I’m looking forward to the New Year and getting my surgery done.

That is fantastic progress! Don’t let the plateaus get you down. They are a normal part of the process. Just keep doing what your nutritionist advises, and you’ll start losing again when your body is ready.

Hi all! I had my sleeve 12/10/19 and so far I have lost 22 pounds. I agree that the rapid weight loss in the beginning is motivating, but now that I am in the purred food stage I see that my weight has maintained. I know that this is probably expected because now the body is getting actually food, but what are some tips or thoughts for continuing the weight loss. I know that I should be following the low carb, low fat, low sugar, and high protein diet, but what else? I also think that my mentality needs to be stronger, I think that I can eat normal foods now and I don’t want to be too hard on my stomach. So far I have been feeling great after my meals. I just have the thought about stretching out, in the back of my mind all the time.
