Hit goal weight and kept it off!

I had gastric sleeve surgery two years ago today and I finally hit my goal weight six months ago. I’ve lost huge amounts before with different fad diets, but I always gained it back pretty quickly.  So what’s really cool to me is that after gastric sleeve surgery, I have kept the weight off for the past six months!  That’s huge!   It makes me so happy to be able to move around easily and fully participate in life.  I just wanted to celebrate a little and I figured you guys would understand why it’s a big deal.

That’s definitely worthy of a celebration! You have worked so hard during those two years, so congratulations to finally reach the goal that you’ve always wanted. It’s my second year next year, so I hope I’ll be as successful as you are!

So, what did you decide to do to celebrate such a great moment?

I never expected it, but my feet are a whole size smaller now and I no longer need wide shoes since my ankles aren’t swollen anymore.  So I treated myself to some shoes that are the appropriate size.  A pair of sneakers, two pairs of pumps for church, and a pair of sandals.

Lovely! Nothing makes me prouder of myself than the moment I try clothes or shoes in numbers I thought I would never ask. It is surely worth the efforts. I hope to hear more stories like this in the future!

Congrats, HeadOverMeals!  That’s a big accomplishment!  Even with surgery, some folks take much longer to drop the excess weight. What would you say has helped you stay on track the most?

My family.  Well, I honestly couldn’t have lost the weight without surgery, but after that, it was my kids and husband who made me want to do better so I could be around for them.
