I’ve been getting a lot of heartburn lately. Is this normal? I didn’t get it before surgery or for the first couple of weeks. I’m not eating near as much as I did before surgery.

I notice this too. I think a lot of this is from my allergies and the dripping of my nose. I do take Pepcid Complete and it doesn’t bother my stomach. Have you tried the one pill a day options?

From what I have heard, acid reflux after surgery is a common thing. Not drinking enough fluids and avoiding foods that are too spicy can cause this. Research has shown that one in five people experience heartburn or acid reflex weekly. Two in five people experience this once a month. Have you consulted your doctor about this?

I drink a lot less now because my stomach can’t handle too much food or liquid. I am going to reach out to my doctor this week. I’ll just call my primary doctor first.

I hate heartburn! I had very severe acid reflux right after surgery which I later found out was due to eating too fast. Once I slowed down as per my doctor’s recommendations, I found it eased the acid by a substantial amount.

I had terrible heartburn for about two months after surgery. I also choked a lot. I did an observation and they told me I was eating too fast. I didn’t even realize I was eating more quickly when watching television. Slowing down made a world of difference.
