Gradual or Quick Weight Loss

I just read the post of Loopy and I wonder what we should expect after having the surgery in terms of weight loss. For those who have successfully done this process, is your weight loss gradual or quick?

It depends, it’s typically very quick then drops off after you develop a ‘habit’ after gastric sleeve. But that was just me. I don’t know how it was for other people?

Like JennyTrains, my weight loss was rapid in the beginning, then plateaued after a while. I think your body gets used to your new diet and routine so weight loss slows down once that happens.

Same here.  I lost a ton the first month after surgery.  I was very heavy, so it was like 10 or more pounds a week in the beginning.  Over time it is has gradually lessened, but it’s still coming off and best of all, I haven’t gained any of it back.   I’m a little over six months out.

I concur with the others that it will be fast weight loss after the surgery, due to the fact that our diet consists mainly of liquid diet right after the surgery. Once you start eating solid food, then your weight will become stable.

I really appreciate your answers so that I know what expect after my surgery. It makes sense that we will lose a lot of weight after surgery because of the diet we have after surgery. If this is the case, does it also mean that when we lose weight slowly after the gastric sleeve surgery that the surgery did not work?
