Fresh foods in this pandemic

I am finding it harder and harder to find fresh foods during this “stay home” pandemic. What are you doing to be sure to eat healthy? I’m not going to the store as often as I was before this.

I don’t recall a time like this; when you woke up fearing for a scarcity of certain items. We haven’t run out of fresh food supply yet (thanks to a few farming neighbors), but everyone hopes that this phase will soon end. Will we have learned any lessons during this period? Surely no one should ever take anything for granted.

Nothing has changed at the stores around me. I’m lucky that people aren’t panic buying. Can you join a CSA to obtain your fresh produce?

I have started gardening as something to do with the kids while staying active. It will take a while to grow, but we will hopefully have fresh veggies for the table. Can you try growing your own.

I love gardening but it’s not time yet! It snowed today! What is a CSA? I have never heard of it. Our stores are crazy, prices are higher and there is not near as much as before this pandemic.

CSA is an abbreviation for Community-supported agriculture. It’s a system that handles food production and distribution by directly connecting farmers and consumers. Picture this: you buy “shares” of a farm’s harvest in advance, then after harvesting, you receive a portion of the crops.

That’s interesting! I haven’t ever heard of it before. I’m not sure there is anything like that around me. I’ll have to look into it. I do have a garden and I also buy from the local market stands (on side of road).
