Do you regret it?

Do you regret having weight-loss surgery?  I’ve run across more positive stories than negative stories about weight-loss surgery, but the bad side of things is enough to make me cautious.

I regret that I needed surgery in the first place, but I don’t regret having it.  Not even for a minute.  My blood pressure was so high, due to my obesity, that I probably wouldn’t have made it to 40.  It was that serious.  I don’t enjoy food like I used to and in that sense, it feels like I’ve lost a friend.  That speaks to my mental health though because food should never be your friend.  It’s what you eat to fuel your body. I had a very unhealthy relationship with food until I got sleeved.

I only had regrets a couple days after the surgery. I was changing the bandaids and I was in so much pain. I looked down, saw my stitches and started bawling, wondering what I did to my body. But now, 14 months post-op I am still over the moon!

I haven’t surgery yet, but I have read many success stories of people who have had a better experience afterwards. Every medical procedure has challenges at first, but eventually, the benefits seem to outweigh them.
