I haven’t found much information about the differences in recovery, so I thought I’d share my experience in case it helps someone else. I returned to work about a week after having lap-band surgery and I was only in the hospital overnight after having the procedure done. That was two years ago. I had a revision to a vertical sleeve recently and I’ve been off work for two weeks so far. It’s definitely taking me longer to heal this time. I’ve also got more side effects like acid reflux and nausea that I didn’t have after the lap-band procedure. I don’t regret having the revision though, especially since my lap-band slipped. That’s a scary thing to go through. Of course, having a revision might not affect everyone the same, but I think the permanent surgeries are generally tougher on the body.
