Considering TTC after weight-loss surgery

I have a lovely husband and wonderful kids, but I’ve always wanted a large family and thought we’d have more children down the road.  If I’m going to try to conceive (TTC) I need to start soon because of my age.  But, I’m not sure I want to fat again after finally hitting my goal weight and I’m not sure that I could eat enough to keep a baby and myself healthy.  I guess I’m worried.  Can it work?  What would you do?

In my opinion, it is not whether or not it can work because you already have the resolve. Have you consulted your doctor about this? Did you also know that you can get a boost in fertility after weight-loss-surgery? It is often advisable to wait 18 months before getting pregnant.

Can you talk to your OB/GYN? That’s where I would start. I am sure they have come across the situation many times, and I would think there is a way you could carry a baby to term with the dietary restrictions.

If you decide not to conceive yourself, there’s always surrogacy or adoption. Best of luck!
