Blood Thinners and Surgery

I take a blood thinner everyday, but I know I’ll have to stop taking it before my surgery. Does anyone know how long I’ll need to be off of it before surgery and when I can start taking it again afterward? I’ll ask my surgeon when I see him, of course. I just wondered if anyone has experience with this.

I was told to stop taking my low-dose Aspirin one week before surgery.  I imagine it might be different if you’re on something stronger like Warfarin.

I went off Aspirin for two weeks before surgery.  I wore the stockings immediately after surgery for awhile, but my health improved dramatically once I started dropping the weight and now I don’t need Aspirin at all.
